Criminal Record Checks

Requirements

Citizens requesting that a criminal records check be completed on themselves must come to the police station and complete, sign, and submit Request for Limited Criminal History Information before the criminal records check will be done.

The person requesting the criminal records check must complete all pertinent information on the Request for Limited Criminal History Information Form and pay the appropriate fee, $7, unless one of the fee exempt conditions listed on the Request for Limited Criminal History Information Form is applicable, or the agency requesting the information is a law enforcement agency or military service.

Fee & Completed Checks

A law enforcement agency has the authority to charge a $7 fee for criminal records checks under Indiana Code (IC) 5-2-5-7. There will be no exceptions.

Criminal records checks will include only information on arrests and/or convictions on charges filed by the La Porte Police Department.

Only Records Division personnel will do criminal records checks. There will be no exceptions.
